What CareKit stands for

Know your audience. Great e-learning design is not one size fits all.
Bianca Woods
The great value of e-learning lies in its ability to tailor the course to the learner, rather than the other way around.

Understand the problem – what do people need to DO? Help them practise with realistic challenges.

E-learnings for informal carers

Informal carers often face new and sometimes difficult challenges in daily life. Understandable knowledge and practical tools can help them make sense of situations and care for a loved one with more confidence.

That is why CareKit develops e-learnings especially for informal carers. Under the name Mantelkennis, a series of interactive e-learnings is being released, the first of which covers dementia. Recognisable situations, clear explanations and practical tips are central, so the knowledge can be applied straight away in daily life.

About CareKit

Interactive e-learnings that bring knowledge to life

Kitty Bertrums

Specialised in designing and developing e-learnings with Articulate Storyline 360

CareKit develops interactive e-learnings on social and people-centred subjects. Behind CareKit is Kitty Bertrums, an e-learning developer with a background in care and education.

I specialise in designing and developing e-learnings with Articulate Storyline 360. In doing so I combine subject knowledge, teaching methods and interactive design. I translate complex subjects into clear explanations, recognisable real-world situations and interactive assignments. Where visuals and motion add something, I create animations in Vyond and integrate them into the e-learning.

The result is an e-learning that does not merely convey information, but actively involves participants and makes knowledge practically applicable.

“Every day I see how important a strong and supportive environment is, especially for the vulnerable people around us”

Care, education, authorship and e-learning

My career began in healthcare as a nurse and personal support worker. Later I moved into education, where I work as a lecturer, trainer and developer in social care. I am also the author of textbooks on social care.

In 2022 I founded CareKit. This is where my experience in care, education, content development and e-learning comes together.

That combination helps me translate complex subject matter into clear and interactive learning experiences. The target group, the learning objective and above all practical applicability are central to this.

Expertise when it is needed

For specialist subjects I work with experts from my professional network where necessary.

An important sounding board on content is my sister Miriam, a healthcare psychologist and former ICU nurse. Drawing on her experience and expertise in areas including psychiatry, dementia, autism and acquired brain injury, she advises and contributes to the content of e-learnings.

This means CareKit can bring in additional expertise when a subject calls for it, while development and direction remain with CareKit.
